We sell handblock print kurtas, ₹1,200–₹2,800 price range. Currently only doing Instagram but seeing a lot of ethnic wear brands blow up on YouTube Shorts and Pinterest. Should we diversify?

For ethnic wear in India in 2026: Instagram Reels remains the highest-volume discovery channel but Pinterest is the highest-intent platform for your price range. Pinterest users actively plan purchases — they save ethnic wear for festivals, weddings, and gifting months in advance. Our data shows Pinterest-referred traffic for ethnic wear brands has a 4.2x higher conversion rate than Instagram traffic, though lower volume. YouTube Shorts converts well for brands that can show styling versatility (same kurta 5 ways). Recommendation: 60% Instagram (volume), 30% Pinterest (conversion), 10% YouTube Shorts (discovery).

I run a fashion channel on YouTube (180k) and my ethnic wear content consistently outperforms fast fashion. The audience watches 8–12 minute haul videos and clicks affiliate links. Average watch time is 6.5 minutes on my saree try-on videos. That kind of engaged attention converts. Instagram is volume, YouTube is depth.

Started Pinterest 4 months ago, now it drives 22% of our web traffic and 34% of our paid orders. The stunning thing is the content is largely evergreen — a Diwali kurta post from October is still getting saved and clicked in March. Instagram posts die in 48 hours. Pinterest content lives for years.

One underrated platform for ethnic wear: WhatsApp Channels. If you have a strong catalogue and can post new arrivals 3x per week as catalogue updates, the conversion from WhatsApp to order is extremely high — especially in Tier 2/3 cities where ethnic wear shopping is deeply social.

For Shorts specifically — ethnic wear try-on videos with trending audio and quick transitions perform very well. My best Shorts video was a "block print kurta 5 ways" — 1.2M views, 800+ comments asking where to buy. Link in description drove 300+ clicks in 3 days.
