Scared of reaching out to creators because I don't know what to say. What does a good first DM look like? How do I not come across as cheap or unprofessional?
First DM template that gets responses: Keep it under 100 words. Start with something specific about their content ("I loved your video on X — the way you styled Y was exactly how our product is meant to be worn"). State who you are in one sentence. State what you want clearly — product gifting, paid collab, or both. End with an easy ask — "Would you be open to a quick chat?" Never open with the rate or budget in the first message. Never send a wall of text. Creators receive dozens of DMs a day — specific, warm, short messages stand out. Follow-up once after 5 days if no reply.
