Should I ask creators for content rights to use in my ads? How does it work?

Content usage rights (also called whitelisting) allow you to run a creator's content as a paid ad. Two types: (1) Usage rights: you get the video file to run as an ad under your brand account. Creator gets paid extra. (2) Creator whitelisting: you run ads directly from the creator's Instagram account ("Sponsored by [Creator]") which often performs better than brand-account ads. Pricing: add 30–50% to the post rate for 3-month usage rights, 50–80% for 6 months. How to ask: include in your initial brief — "We'd like usage rights to boost this content as a paid ad for 3 months. Budget includes a 40% usage rights fee." Most professional creators expect this ask.
Find creators open to whitelisting →Creator perspective: we almost always say yes to usage rights if the fee is fair. It actually helps us too — brands who boost our content expose us to new audiences we wouldn't reach organically. It's a win-win when the usage fee is right (not when brands try to get rights for free).
