Two approaches I keep seeing: brands sending product for review vs brands paying for product placement in creator content. Which one actually converts better for supplements?

Creator review vs product placement for supplements — performance comparison: Dedicated review: creator tries product for 30 days, shares honest opinion. Pros: highest credibility, deep content, strong purchase intent. Cons: requires time (30+ days), cannot control outcome, creator might not like it. Product placement: product appears in creator's fitness content without being the main focus. Pros: feels organic, doesn't trigger "ad" avoidance, scalable. Cons: lower direct attribution. What the data shows: dedicated reviews from nutrition/fitness credible creators convert at 2–4x vs product placement for supplements. Reason: supplement purchase is a considered decision — audiences need detail, not just a glimpse. Best approach: send for genuine trial first (placement naturally happens if they like it), then propose a dedicated review for top performers. Never pay for a review before a creator has tried the product — scripted supplement reviews are easy to spot.

We made a rule after our first 10 campaigns: no paid placement before the creator has actually used the product for 14+ days. The content quality difference is visible and measurable. 30-day review content gets 2.5x the saves of day-1 placement content. Patience pays.
